In other words, the brain creates our perceptual experience. This means it is possible to substitute a lost or absent sense (such as vision in acquired and congenital blindness), by providing the person with a means to gain the same information from the world through another of their senses. Sometimes unpleasant experiences, such as pain or nausea, might arise when normal sensory information is misinterpreted by the brain. Understanding how the brain can reorganise when a sense is missing or substituted and how sensory misinterpretation occurs could lead to the development of methods to treat or reverse such conditions.",

What we do: We examine the barriers — such as inequality, discrimination, and exclusion — and the drivers that shape how people engage with physical activity and sport-related consumption. By understanding these forces, we aim to support more equitable, inclusive, and meaningful participation. Why we matter: Sport and physical activity can catalyse positive social change and transform lives, but only if the deep-rooted inequalities limiting their impact for many are addressed. "research_direction": "Digital technologies have the potential to transform manufacturing by increasing productivity and opening up new business opportunities. However, the UK has had lower levels of adoption than some of our competitors. While this may appear a purely technical challenge to overcome, in practice many of the most pressing barriers are because of the ‘human’ element. For example, a digital skills gap, implementation that fails to support human capability, employee resistance, or a lack of senior management support or vision. We will create needs-driven processes to support industry in realising the potential of a people-led approach to digitalisation. We place our most valuable asset - people - at the core of our solutions. We work in close partnership with industry to sustain and grow an enduring competitive advantage, by enabling digitally-engaged people and processes for UK manufacturing. Se",

Our goal is to develop novel catalyst/reactor configurations with increased effectiveness and stability whilst reducing energy and material consumption. Catalytic processes are key enabling technologies to address environmental and economic challenges in the 21st century. They have wide application, including: Catalysis and reactor engineering are at the heart of our current industrial model. Over 80% of manufactured materials need the application of catalysis during production. There is an industry-wide drive to develop more sustainable and efficient processes using multifunctional materials. We are at the forefront of research in this crucial sector, supporting three major themes:",
